Hillsboro opens season with win over Blanchester

The Hillsboro Lady Indians opened the season on the road and returned home with a victory to start the season by defeating the Blanchester Lady Wildcats, 59-42, Saturday evening at BHS.
The Lady Indians (1-0) scored just four points in the opening quarter of the season, trailing by an 8-4 score after the first eight minutes ticked off the clock.
From there, the Lady Indians responded with a 23-point second frame, while holding the Lady Wildcats to another eight-point frame in the first half for a halftime advantage of 27-16.
HHS took advantage of turnovers by the Lady Wildcats with BHS committing 27.
[[In-content Ad]]In the aforementioned first frame, juniors Kaylynn Bell and Trista Rhodes each had two points, but six players added points for HHS in the second frame, including five points by Madison Snyder and six points by Bell.
Hannah Kibler and Kirsten Juillerat each added four points in the second period, while Rhodes and Faith Middleton each scored two points in the second frame.
HHS outscored Blanchester, 14-9 in the third and 18-17 in the final eight minutes.
Bell led HHS with a game-high 17 points, with Juillerat following with 14 points. Snyder totaled 10 points for the third HHS player to reach double figures.
Rhodes and Kibler each scored eight points in the win. Middleton totaled two points.
HHS committed 12 turnovers and finished the game 9-of-16 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Indians will travel to Lynchburg-Clay on Monday to face the Lady Mustangs (0-1) at LCHS.
