Hillsboro hosts SCOL Girls Basketball Preview

Basketball found its way to Highland County Friday evening as Hillsboro hosted the 2013-14 South Central Ohio League Girls Basketball Preview.

The preview at Hillsboro High School Friday evening consisted of three two-quarter games with Washington vs. East Clinton, Miami Trace vs. McClain and capping off the event, host Hillsboro vs. Chillicothe.

Clinton-Massie, the seventh member of the SCOL, did not play in the event.

In the third of the three games, Chillicothe defeated the Lady Indians, 23-21. For HHS in the game, Trista Rhodes led with seven points, followed by Kaylynn Bell with six.

Alyssa Sullivan, Reaghan Haines and Tyeika Cumberland each scored two points for HHS. Faith Middleton added one point to the HHS total.

For the visiting Lady Cavaliers, Shay Lett led all scorers with 13 points in the two quarters, followed by Haylee Large with four points. Essence Devlin, Jasmine Jordan and Shawna Smith each scored two points.

The second game of the night saw McClain and Miami Trace finish their two quarters with a 17-17 tied score.

For the Lady Tigers, who were in their road uniforms, Sarah Barton led with four points, followed by Lauren Rayburn, Taylor Polley and Malea Montavon with three points each.

Allison Willett and Shania Massie each had two points for the Lady Tigers.

Leading the Lady Panthers were Ashley Henry and Abby Schwenk with six points each. Brooklyne Baldwin scored five points.

In the first game of the preview, Washington defeated East Clinton.
