COLUMBUS — McClain senior Brandon Davis lost his second match at the 76th Annual State Wrestling Championship Friday morning, falling to undefeated senior Greg Moray of Steubenville.

Moray improved to 35-0 with a win by pin fall over Davis with 1:10 left on the clock in the first period of the Division II championship quarterfinals (220 pounds) at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, located on the campus of The Ohio State University.

In his match with Moray, who placed fourth at state last year, Davis was rushed and taken to the mat by Moray, who took control and maneuvered Davis over to eventually gain the win.

Moray is one of just four wrestlers to begin Friday undefeated for the season. Moray was the Heath district champion. He won his first match in the state tournament by major decision, 15-6 over Conneaut's Billy Post on Thursday.

Davis (45-7) will now wrestle in the second round of the consolation bracket, as he'll take on Nathan Dixon of New Richmond, who is 32-9 overall.

Davis and Dixon wrestled each other in the Goshen District tournament, where Davis lost by a pin fall in their match at 5:34.

In his first match of the state tournament on Thursday, Davis won over Beau Swank, a junior from Bellefontaine Benjamin Logan, by pin fall at the 5:38 mark of the match.
