Day 1 of SCOL Track & Field Championships

EBER — The first of two days for the South Central Ohio League Track and Field Championships took place at Miami Trace High School on Tuesday.

The Washington Lady Blue Lions currently lead with 32 points and the McClain boys lead with 33 points after the first day.

Current standings for the boys include: McClain (32), Hillsboro (31), Miami Trace (29), Clinton-Massie (22), Washington (20), London (11) and Madison-Plains (9).

For the girls, the current standings are: Washington (32), McClain (18), Miami Trace (17), Hillsboro (17), Clinton-Massie (15.5) and London (14.5).

In events that went final for the boys, Hillsboro won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:53.62. The winning team consisted of De-Andre Steward, Joe Beery, Conner Ernst and Mackenzie Conlon. MT was second at 8:59.80, followed by CM (9:03.07), LHS (9:07.41), WCH (9:27.93), MHS (9:43.19) and MP (10:10.49).

McClain's Tara Karnes was the champion in the girls shot put with a distance of 38-06.50. Hillsboro's Alissa Sullivan was third at 32-09.50. Madison Lambcke (HHS) and Taylor Wheaton (MHS) were 12th and 13th.

Washington won the girls 4x800m with a time of 10:16.38. HHS was second at 10:26.44 with a team of Reaghan Haines, Madison Colliver, Alissa Hauke and Brittany Ferrell. LHS was third at (10:42.41), followed by MT (11:18.28), CM (11:23.51) and MHS (13:01.63).

Dylan Collins of CM won the boys pole vault at 11-00.00, followed by Washngton's Travis Hawk at 10-06.00. Hillsboro's Brandon Elmore was third at 10-00.00 and Paul Burton (HHS) was fourth at 9-06.00. James Morris of MHS was fifth at 9-06.00.

Washington's Tori Merritt was first in the girls high jump at 4-10.00. McClain's Abby Storts was fourth 4-08.00. Taylor Stanforth of HHS was seventh at 4-06.00 and teammate Briana Aleshire was eighth at 4-04.00. McClain's Megan Mustard was ninth at 4-02.00.

In the boys discus throw, Derek Muncie of MT was first at 132-11, followed by McClain's Chandler Wagner in second at 121-10. Philip Thompson of MHS was fifth at 116-04. Zach Brown and Stanley Burns of HHS were ninth and 10th.

All other track events ran on Tuesday were prelim events with the finals taking place on Thursday, May 16 at MTHS with field events taking place at 4:30 p.m.
