Bearcats want to knock Tanks off course

BAINBRIDGE – Coming of their first win in recent weeks, the Paint Valley Bearcats look to make it two wins in a row as they travel to face the Unioto Sherman-Tanks in a Scioto Valley Conference contest this Friday night.
The Bearcats, who stand at 3-5 overall, 2-3 in the conference, will have to stop Unioto quarterback Quentin Detillion. Last week against Zane Trace he passed for 169 yards, going 19-of-36, with one touchdown pass.
“Their quarterback is 6-6, 215 pounds and he can run the spread offense,” Paint Valley head coach Pete Hollon said. “He leads their offense attack really well.”
Defensively the Sherman-Tanks will use a base 6-2 look. Leading their defense will be Mike Elliasis, a defensive tackle.
“They (Unioto) like to crowd the line of scrimmage and dare you to pass the football,” Hollon said.
As for the Bearcats, to gain their fourth win of the season, and to have a chance at a 5-5 year, Hollon said his team will have to improve their passing game, as last week they passed the ball just three times against Huntington.
“We haven’t achieved the balance that we want with our offense,” he said. “We are not near where we want to be. We want to finish strong and have a chance at finishing .500. We want to play our best football, and we have to be consistent.
“We are still moving people around due to injuries and illness. Unioto is a much- improved team. I would compare them to us in the fact they too have lost some close games.”
Unioto is currently 2-6 overall. Last week, the Tanks lost to Zane Trace by a score of 44-6, allowing five touchdowns in the first half.
