  • Hillsboro eighth graders sweep second straight doubleheader
    The Hillsboro eighth grade baseball team swept another twin bill on Saturday, March 24, taking a pair from the Paint Valley Bearcat squad to improve to 4-0 on the season.
    In the first game, Nathan Goolsby and Wyatt Condo teamed up for a 9-1 victory with 10 strikeouts, three walks and no earned runs.
    Condo went 2-for-4 with a double and single, scoring twice. Goolsby was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a single. Jesse Walker, Jacob Schlater and Travis Wehrung each collected hits for the young Indians.
    The second game proved to be a more exciting contest as HiIlsboro, trailing 9-4 going into their half of the fifth inning, came back to win 13-9.
    Jesse Walker, D.J. Brown and Dylan Rhoads teamed up on the mound, with Rhoads earning the victory.
    From the plate, Nathan Goolsby added two more hits, including a double. Ethan Adkins, Condo, Ryan Hagan, Chase Colliver, Walker, Christian Greene, D.J. Brown, Travis Carter, Schlater and Wehrung all collected hits for the victorious Hillsboro eighth graders.
    Next week, Hillsboro will travel to Leesburg to take on the Fairfield Lions. 
    Team sponsors are Dr. Lesia Langston-McKenna, Miller's Auto Hospital, Long's Retreat, Tissot's Home Center and Terry's Pizza.
