West Union man found dead; incident called 'suspicious'

According to a report by the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 51-year-old man found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest in his home Friday afternoon.

Carrie Whitaker of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes that investigators have not yet released the victim's name, but are suspicious because the gun used in the incident was found further from the body than would be expected in a suicide, according to Adams County Dispatcher Chris Phelps.

A family member called 911 about 12:30 p.m. to report the man was not breathing.

There was very little blood, Phelps said, and it wasn’t until paramedics arrived to the home in the 100 block of Lawler Road and lifted the man’s shirt that the gunshot wound was discovered. Phelps added that several family members were taken in for questioning.

Anyone with information that could be helpful to investigators is asked to call 937-544-2314.[[In-content Ad]]
