Turner: VA obstructs efforts to investigate Dayton facility

Third District Rep. Mike Turner has received word that the Department of Veterans Affairs has refused to make former Dayton VA Medical Center Guy Richardson available to meet with Turner and the chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, Jeff Miller, as had been planned for Monday, March 14.
“As you know the director can provide information about the operation of the dental clinic and the negligent care provided to veterans, which is of great interest to me and the Chairman,” Turner wrote in a letter to Secretary Shinseki on March 11.
According to a news release from Turner, "The VA’s effort to stonewall Congressman Turner and the chairman of the committee with oversight and investigative jurisdiction of the VA shows that the truth remains to be uncovered."
“The VA’s actions tonight at 5:30 p.m. are highly evasive and obstructionist. Also, when in considered in the context that Director Richardson has received a bonus and a promotion since this has come to light, I have great concern about the VA’s actions,” Turner said.

Dear Secretary Shinseki:
I was extremely concerned to learn this evening that the Department of Veterans Affairs is refusing to allow Dayton VA Medical Center Director Guy Richardson to meet with me and House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller as planned on Monday, March 14th in Dayton. As you know the Director can provide information about the operation of the dental clinic and the negligent care provided to veterans, which is of great interest to me and the Chairman.
The VA’s actions last night at 5:30 p.m. are highly evasive and obstructionist. Also, when in considered in the context that Director Richardson has received a bonus and a promotion since this has come to light, I have great concern about the VA’s actions.
