Calling his mission “a publicity stunt for God,” 38-year-old Daniel Johnson said he is hiking from Maine to California to spread the Gospel.
Johnson passed through Hillsboro on Jan. 8 on his way to Fayetteville and points west along U.S. 50.
Johnson, whose hometown is just outside Dallas, began his cross-country hike last June, following the Appalachian Trail.
He is now walking along U.S. Route 50, the American Discovery Trail.
Johnson said he would turn south to Louisville from Cincinnati, then west to St. Louis, where he planned to stay with friends. Johnson said he has stayed with total strangers, at churches and shelters along the route. He also camps outside, sleeping in a tent he carries with him, when he can’t find any other accommodations.
Johnson invites people to follow his journey on his Web site at www.thetruthgroup.com.[[In-content Ad]]
