Report: Sears Holdings to close more than 100 stores

Sears Holdings Corp will close up to 120 stores in its Kmart and Sears chains, according to a Reuters News report this week.
The company cited poor sales at some locations.
According to the report, sales at Sears Holdings have fallen every year since it was formed through the merger of Sears and Kmart in 2005.
It was not immediately clear of the announcement's impact on the Hillsboro Kmart store.
Mayor Dick Zink said the city has not received a WARN (Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification) notice on any pending layoffs at the local store.
The WARN act provides protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring most employers with 100 or more employees to provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs.
WARN Notices are provided by these employers to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Office of Workforce Development, Rapid Response Section. Included in this site are WARN notices from 1996 to the present.
As of Dec. 27, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services did not have a notice listed on its website for any Highland County businesses.[[In-content Ad]]
