Chairman Chris Redfern Statement on the Passing of Former Ohio Supreme Court
Chief Justice Frank Celebrezze
Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern issued this statement following the March 21 passing of former Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Frank Celebrezze:
“It is with deep sadness that I learned today of the passing of former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Frank Celebrezze. During his 14 years on the Ohio Supreme Court, Chief Justice Celebrezze brought to the court a high degree of compassion for Ohioans of all walks of life, as well as effective leadership for his fellow justices. His integrity was unmatched, and he will remain a role model for all who serve in our judicial system for many years to come.”
Celebrezze was elected as a judge of the Ohio Supreme Court in 1972, defeating Republican Robert E. Leach. He was re-elected in 1974, defeating Republican Sheldon A. Taft.
In 1978, he was elected chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court.
