Police in Dundee, Mich. make arrests in local identity theft case
The Village of Dundee, Mich. Police Department is reporting a fraud investigation that resulted in the apprehension of two individuals.
On April 13, the Dundee Police Department was contacted regarding the planned purchase of a vehicle at a car dealership in Dundee. Preliminary investigation revealed that two individuals allegedly arranged to meet at the dealership and purchase a vehicle using fraudulent identification from an identity theft.
The victim was a resident of Hillsboro, Ohio. The victim reported the matter to the Highland County, Ohio Sheriff's Office, who reached out to the Dundee Police Department for assistance.
On April 20, members of the Village of Dundee Police Department and detectives from the Monroe County, Mich. Sheriff’s Office waited at the dealership for the individuals to arrive and complete the transaction. The individuals were then taken into custody without incident and transported to the Monroe County Jail.
Both suspects are 25-year-old females from Wayne County. The identity of the two individuals is being withheld pending formal charges and arraignment.
