Planning commission tables camping issue

The Hillsboro Planning Commission has tabled an ongoing matter regarding camping at the Highland County Fairgrounds.

Hillsboro Safety and Service Director and planning commission member Ralph Holt said the March 16 meeting was a follow up to a public hearing held approximately two weeks ago.

"We had a public hearing for the fair board to allow camping during the fair behind the subdivision," Holt said. "We invited those (neighboring residents) and they had some issues about the property lines."

Holt said Highland County Fair Board member David Stratton submitted a drawing that showed the distance of the property line behind the neighboring subdivision and a proposed line of trees that will be planted along the line. Hillsboro Mayor and planning commission member Dick Zink asked that Stratton come back with a larger drawing of the plans with more detail.

"Mr. Stratton said he would come back with a larger picture of what he was planning to do so it can be shared with the public," Holt said.

Holt said the commission tabled the matter, and will meet again before the next Hillsboro City Council meeting in April.
