Paint Township man charged with illegal assembly
A Paint Township man was arrested Monday after he was allegedly discovered with items related to a meth lab in his home during a visit from Highland County Children Services.
According to a release from the Highland County Sheriff's Office, Robert D. Throckmorton, 44, was arrested and charged with illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree. The charge, according to the sheriff's office, is a second-degree felony, as the alleged activity was in the presence of a juvenile.
It was not specified how old the child was.
The sheriff's office was called to assist Highland County Children Services with the home visit Monday.
"Upon arrival, contact was made with the resident, Robert D. Throckmorton. Further investigation revealed items related to the assembly of chemicals and production of methamphetamine were present," according to the HCSO. "Detectives were called to the scene and a search was made of the residence. Upon conducting the search, several items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine were located. The items were secured and an environmental cleanup crew was dispatched by the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) to take possession of the items due to their hazardous nature."
Throckmorten is scheduled for arraignment in Hillsboro Municipal Court "in the near future, with a preliminary hearing to follow," according to the HCSO.
The case will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office for possible presentation to an upcoming grand jury session, where additional charges are possible.
