Ohio State Highway Patrol plans OVI checkpoint in Hamilton County 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Hamilton County Friday, April 25.

The OVI checkpoint, funded partially by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

"Based on provisional data, there were 10,744 OVI-related crashes in which 581 people were killed and over 4,939 people were injured in Ohio in 2024," Lieutenant Scott J. Kuntz, Commander of the Cincinnati Patrol Post, said.  

“State troopers made 14,636 OVI arrests in 2025 in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

The location of the checkpoint will be announced on April 25.
