Hillsboro Postmaster Curtis Pegram needs your help. More specifically, he needs your commitment to the U.S. Armed Forces serving overseas in the Mideast. Pegram is seeking letters of appreciation for our troops from the community. If you write the letters, he will provide the postage. "This could be a great classroom project for the younger students to send a special greeting to a soldier who is far from home," Pegram told The Highland County Press. With the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approaching, Pegram said this would be an ideal time to send a letter and a "care package" to a soldier overseas. All letters may be dropped off at the Hillsboro Post Office on North High Street. The letters should be labeled "Letter to Our Troops," and to the attention of the postmaster. They can be addressed to an individual or they can be generic letters to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces serving in the region. Pegram will take it from there and see that the letters are mailed to an active serviceman or woman in the Mideast. He would like all letters by Oct. 31. Earlier, Pegram led a local effort to collect more than 12,000 pounds of nonperishable food items to help those in need. [[In-content Ad]]
