Hillsboro Police Report for March 15-16

On March 15 at 10:59 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to an alarm call on McDowell Street. Upon officer's arrival, it was found that someone had cut a hole in the fence belonging to AEP. Someone also tried to gain entry into the building. This report remains under investigation. $200 worth of property was damaged.
On March 16 at 1:23 p.m., Walmart called and advised they had a shoplifter. When employees tried to detain the subject, he took off running. Robert Coburn of Hillsboro was later located in the dumpster at Bob Evans. He was taken into custody and charged with theft.
At 6:30 p.m., Walmart called and advised they had detained a female shoplifter. After investigation, it was found that Lydia Bateman of Athens, Ohio had concealed a pair of pants and left the store without paying for the item. The total value was listed at $10, and Bateman was arrested for theft.
