On Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 9:33 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department charged Patricia Gibbs, 38, of Hillsboro with obstructing official business, a misdemeanor of the second degree, after making numerous calls to the Hillsboro Police Department without a valid purpose to do so.
On Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 5:56 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a two-vehicle property damage crash in the 300 block of East Main Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2011 Kia operated by William L. Barker, 64, of Hillsboro had stopped in traffic while eastbound. A 1996 Ford operated by Dona L. Oppy, 28, of Greenfield struck the rear of the Barker vehicle. No injuries were reported. Oppy was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
At approximately 6:42 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department dispatcher advised officers that the Hillsboro Fire Department's life squad was en route to a residence in the 400 block of North High St., in reference to a subject that was not breathing.
Upon an officer arriving on scene, it was found that Jason Willhite, 34, of Hillsboro was being treated by members of the life squad but was unresponsive. The subject was transported to the Highland District Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
The Highland County Coroner was contacted and ordered the deceased to be transported to Miami Valley Hospital for an autopsy. The Hillsboro Police Department and the Highland County Coroner's Office are jointly investigating the death.
