On Friday, Oct. 21 at 2:27 p.m., the Merchants National Bank, located at 145 W. Beech Street, reported that their property had been damaged by paint being sprayed on a recently sealed and striped parking lot. This incident remains under investigation.
At 4:16 p.m., officers of the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on North High Street, west of Willow Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 1999 Jeep operated by Carolyn Mefford, 68, of Seaman was southbound on North High Street and stopped in preparation to turn left onto Willow Street. A second southbound vehicle was a 2000 Chevrolet operated by Amy Scott, 25, of Greenfield was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of the Mefford vehicle. There were no injuries reported, and non-functional damage was sustained by both vehicles. Scott was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
At 11 p.m., officers responded to an altercation at a residence in the 100 block of South Elm Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that Matthew Isaac, 40, was involved in an argument with another person at that location. Isaac eventually refused to leave and was subsequently arrested for criminal trespassing. Isaac was found to have a felony warrant from the Adams County Sheriff's Office. He was transferred to the custody of the Adams County Sheriff's Office.
