On Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2:34 p.m., a hit-skip crash was reported on US 62 near South High St. in the city of Hillsboro. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 1998 Chevrolet operated by Ricky Richmond, 51, of Stout, was southbound and attempted to turn left into a private driveway. Upon doing so, the Richmond vehicle was struck from behind by another southbound vehicle, which fled the scene of the crash. There were no injuries reported. The crash remains under investigation.
On Monday, Oct. 3 at 4:13 p.m., an officer of the Hillsboro Police Department executed a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective exhaust in the 100 block of West Beech Street operated by John Brummett, 44, of HIllsboro. Upon further investigation, it was found that Brummett was in possession of drug paraphernalia as well as various substances. Brummett was charged with unnecessary noise (muffler), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor of the 4th degree) and possession of drugs (felony of the 5th degree).[[In-content Ad]]
