On Feb. 28, the Hillsboro Police Department investigated the following accidents.
At 9:29 a.m., Thomas Carpenter was on 62 North, sitting in traffic at the intersection of US 50. Sandra Carpenter was backing from a parking space on North High Street and backed into Mr. Carpenter's left rear quarter panel. Moderate damage was reported, no one was injured, and Ms. Carpenter was cited for improper backing.
At 10:32 a.m., Benjamin Starkey was traveling southbound on North High Street in the 900 block and was pulling a trailer with a load of logs. Mr. Starkey stated that traffic was stopped. He applied his brakes to avoid the vehicles and drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and mail boxes. Starkey was cited for failure to maintain control. No injuries were reported.
At 4:48 p.m., Nathan Horne was southbound on US 62 and struck a deer that had entered the roadway. Disabling damage occurred, and the vehicle was towed from the seen. Horne was not injured in the accident.
At 2:41 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call from Walmart in reference to a person trespassing. After officers' arrival, it was found that Melaine Fenner had been barred from the store. Fenner was removed and cited for criminal trespassing.[[In-content Ad]]
