The Highland County Chapter of the National Rifle Association recently announced a grant in the amount of $3,800 to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office from the NRA Foundation.
The grant awarded to the HCSO will be used with the emphasis on the marksmanship program at the sheriff’s office. The HCSO will purchase ammunition for bi-annual range qualification for deputies for their duty firearms and special response team firearms.
"This is the second year in a row that the local chapter of our NRA has awarded this grant to the HCSO," Sheriff Ron Ward said. "With the recent budget cuts we have seen, this grant allows us to continue our range qualifications on a bi-annual basis to keep our people proficient which is paramount to officer and citizen safety, and for that we are very thankful to our local chapter.”
The Highland County Chapter of the NRA will be holding its annual fundraiser dinner banquet on Saturday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the AMVETS Post #61 located at 11541 North Shore Drive.
For information about ticket purchases, please contact Jerry Miller at (937) 764-1238.
