On Nov. 29, 2009 at 5:10 p.m., the Greenfield Police Department received a report of suspicious persons in the 400 block of South St.  When the officer arrived, he found that the persons had placed a safe inside an outdoor trash can.  Upon checking the area, the officer then found a nearby home had been forcibly entered.  The officer located the homeowner, who had been away, and determined the home had been burglarized and the safe, credit cards, and Christmas presents had been stolen.  A short time later, another call was received from a local business of two suspicious persons charging large cigarette purchases to a credit card.  The officer responded and found Dustin A. Patty, 24, Dayton and Billie J. Willett, 29, Greenfield in possession of a stolen credit card.  Both were taken into custody and based on evidence from the scene were determined to have committed the burglary on South St. Patty has been charged with burglary, theft and safecracking, and Willett was charged with burglary and theft.  Both were held in the Greenfield City Jail and will appear in Highland County Court, Greenfield, for arraignment Monday morning.
