Got Forgiveness? opens fundraising gift shop

Got Forgiveness?, a faith-based public charity, recently had a public office donated by Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and would like to encourage the community to visit their fundraising gift shop where donated items are made available in exchange for monetary donations.

Got Forgiveness? has some beautiful quilts, fabric purses and many other handmade items right now that make unique gifts and help a great local cause. New donated items and talents are always welcome. The fundraising shop is open every second and third Saturday from  9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call 402.-8415 for an appointment.

"What makes us different from some great programs in Highland county is that our applications are given by face-to-face appointments with one of our 55 volunteers at a church of the applicant's choice," said Kristy Williams, founder of Got Forgiveness? "We have supporters representing 19 different denominations. Most of the families we have helped are from the Hillsboro area, but we have helped families from Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Greene and Montgomery counties in Ohio.

"We fill in the gap of our great pantry systems to help with food for medically restricted diets like diabetes," Williams said. "We prevent utility disconnects and homelessness (e.g. prevent evictions).

"But we need help, too. Right now, we have a long waiting list of families in need. Monetary donations (tax-deductible) are needed, but for those unable and interested in donating their time or energy, there are lots of free things folks can do and volunteer for on our website."

Got Forgiveness? is located at 133 Walnut Street, below The Back Porch, in Hillsboro.
