Buckeye Institute posts higher education salaries, pensions
The Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions has added the following colleges and universities to its “Higher Ed” searchable data tool on its website:
Bowling Green State University (2009 & 2010), Cleveland State University (2009 & 2010), Kent State University (2009 & 2010), Miami University (2009 & 2010), Ohio University (2009 & 2010, Shawnee State (2009 & 2010), The Ohio State University (2009), University of Akron (2009 & 2010), University of Cincinnati (2009 & 2010), and University of Toledo (2009).
The new data includes the salary and estimated pension data for over 59,000 public higher education employees in Ohio.
The number of higher education public employees making $100,000 or more is listed by university.
Based on the current pension formula, the estimated yearly pension payout for these 4,496 employees would total $428,530,218.50 and the lifetime pension payout would total $9,680,497,636.00 for an 18-year retirement, The Buckeye Institute found.
The total payroll for the 10 schools based on the latest year data totaled $3,002,544,981.
Since the launch of the new website on April 30, 2010, over 99,500 visitors from426 Ohio cities have spent over 10,500 hours on the website doing more than732,000 searches using the state government salary, K-12 teacher salary, federal government salary, school performance, county economic, and lobbyist data tools.
Buckeye Institute President Matt A. Mayer noted, “Given the constant increase in public higher education costs and pension liabilities, Ohio parents, students, and taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going.
"The higher education salary data will allow them to judge the value of Ohioʼs public colleges and universities.”
The Higher Ed data tool is available at www.buckeyeinstitute.org.
