Art Schlichter facing theft charges

Former Ohio State University and Miami Trace High School quarterback Art Schlichter has been charged with allegedly stealing $1 million from the widow of a former restaurant chairman and chief executive.
Schlichter, 50, has had a long history of legal troubles related to his well-publicized gambling habits.
He turned himself in to the Franklin County prosecutor and was charged on Monday, Feb. 14.
According to media reports, Schlichter has offered to cooperate with a continuing investigation of investments, loans, or sale of 2011 Super Bowl tickets and Ohio State football tickets, prosecutors said.
Schlichter is charged with stealing $1 million from Anita L. Barney, 68, in a fraud scheme. Barney is the widow of Robert Barney, who helped lead the Wendy's hamburger chain in its early decades.
After leaving Ohio State, Schlichter was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1982.[[In-content Ad]]
