Lynchburg artist Ginger Back has been selected as one of 100 artists whose works will be on display at the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) 31st annual convention July 26-29 at the Summit Hotel Gallery, 5345 Medpace Way in Cincinnati.
Back's artwork entitled "Pondering" will be on display at the convention.
In conjunction with its annual International Exhibition, CPSA presents a fun-filled convention providing colored pencil artists the opportunity to become acquainted with other artists, attend workshops, view the exhibition, win door prizes at the art gala and enjoy the banquet when the award-winning artists are announced.
Founded in 1990, the Colored Pencil Society of America is a nonprofit organization for colored pencil enthusiasts working to promote colored pencils as a fine art medium by sponsoring exhibitions and workshops, being involved in product research and educating the public in general.
The organization strives to elevate the medium, educate others about it, and encourage innovation with its use. Some of the ways CPSA works to gain recognition for colored pencil include:
• Sponsoring annual exhibitions for colored pencil artists;
• Providing a network of district chapters around the United States;
• Promoting colored pencil art and artists;
• Sponsoring workshops at its annual convention; and
• Testing lightfastness of colored pencil brands.
