Mangus wins 3200m run at SHL Championships

The Fairfield varsity track & field team traveled to Manchester to complete in the 2011 SHL Championships on Friday, May 6.   

Leading the boys' scoring was freshman Michael Mangus, who earned a league title in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:25.70.  

Also competing were Tanner Ayres, Tyler Sims, John Cain and Dustin Fetters, who finished sixth in the 4X100 and 4X200m relays.   

Ayres, Cain and Sims also teamed with Mangus to take fifth place in the 4X400m relay.   

Cain placed eighth in the 800m run, and Fetters was eighth in the boys' discus.

Mangus was named to the 2011 All-SHL team.

The team will compete next at the Southeast District Championships, held at Oak Hill High School, on May 18 and 21.[[In-content Ad]]
