Following a pair of top-four team finishes at the Slippery Rock Bill Lennox Invitational on Oct. 9, two members of the Youngstown State men's and women's cross-country programs were recognized as Nike Horizon League Cross-Country Runners of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

YSU juniors Matthew Mangus and Hailey Zelinsky were tabbed with the weekly honors.

Mangus, a Fairfield graduate, scored a first-place individual finish during Saturday's 8000m race at the Slippery Rock Bill Lennox Invitational, clocking a season-best time of 26:09 to finish 13 seconds ahead of the rest of a field featuring 69 competitors.

Mangus' effort boosted the men's team to a first-place team finish on the day.

YSU is slated to return to competition on Friday, Oct. 15 when the Penguins make their way to State College, Pa., for the Penn State National - the program's final tune-up prior to the conference meet scheduled on Oct. 30 in Indianapolis.
