Lions split games with Greyhounds

LEESBURG — Kept to four hits on the day, the Fairfield Lions were unable to gain any momentum on the bases as they fell to the Manchester Greyhounds 4-0 in Southern Hills League play.
Gaining hits for the Lions were Cody Tolle, Nathaniel Miller and Tyler Campbell. Miller had two hits in the SHL game.
Tolle was the first base runner for the Lions in the bottom of the second with a two-out extra base hit. Miller's double came in the bottom of the fourth. In that same inning, Campbell reached on a fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kyle Carson was hit by a pitch with one out.
The bottom part of the sixth had Miller reached first with a base hit. He was replaced on the bases by Chase Fulkerson. Campbell was the final base runner for FHS with a double in the inning.
Miller was charged with the loss. Miller allowed two runs, none earned, on one hit and two walks in 2 1-3 innings on the mound. He finished with one strikeout.
Campbell pitched in relief for the Lions. He went 4 2-3 innings, allowing four hits, two runs (one earned) with no walks. Campbell finished with six strikeouts.
The loss drops FHS to 8-9 overall, 6-5 in the SHL.

Earlier in the same day, the Lions and Greyhounds finished a make up game from April 16, where they were victorious 8-5.
The game started at Manchester and finished in Leesburg.
The Lions scored all their runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, as the game was restarted Wednesday during the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth Kyle Carson was hit by a pitch with one out, reaching second on a steal. He took third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Bobby Wilson.
In the sixth, Tyler Campbell walked with one out and reached second on a passed ball.
Dakota Hargrave was called safe on an error, as Campbell reached third on the same play. Cody Tolle reached first on a fielder's choice, allowing Campbell to beat the throw home for a run.

The top of the seventh saw the Lions score five runs for their eight-run total.
Scoring in the inning were Ian Adams, Miller, Campbell, Hargrave and Tolle.
The win on the hill went to Miller. In the two-day game, Miller went all seven innings. He allowed 10 hits, five runs (four earned) on two walks. He finished with eight strikeouts.
At the plate Campbell was 2-for-2 with two runs. Kyle Carson went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and one run. Jordan Boles, Adams and Hargrave all had one hit.
Tolle finished with two RBIs and Wilson had one RBI.
Manchester scored runs in the second, third, fifth and seventh.
