One night after suffering a loss, the Fairfield Lions rebounded with a non-conference win Saturday night, as they defeated the Adena Warriors, 57-40 at Grandle Gymnasium.

FHS (10-10) opened their game against Adena with a 17-8 lead after the first quarter, followed by a 16-10 second frame for a lead of 33-18 at the half.

The Lions opened the second half with a 17-15 third quarter, and each team scored seven points in the final eight minutes.

"We came out and got after it (Saturday)," Fairfield head coach Everett Snyder said.

Leading the Lions in scoring was Ryan Bates with 18 points. The junior was 6-of-8 from the free-throw line, along with adding seven rebounds.[[In-content Ad]]

Gage Montgomery and Blake Hildebrant each followed with 13 points. Montgomery totaled seven rebounds, while Hildebrant had four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Offensively, Hildebrant sank four 3-pointers.

"Blake did a good job of running the point," Snyder said. "They (AHS) played the zone, and he went 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.

"Ryan (Bates) has been scoring points well lately. He's also been doing a good job rebounding. One good thing about Ryan is he's quick and he's scoring points in transition, not just in the paint."

Quentin Williams finished with eight points (four assists, four steals), while Cody Bennett totaled three points (a 3-pointer) and Joey Wilson finished with two points and four assists.

FHS will play again on Tuesday, Feb. 12 as they host Westfall in a non-conference game, and they will wrap up the regular season on Friday, Feb. 15 at Manchester.
