Lions brush back Green Devils

    SEAMAN - The Fairfield Lions controlled the middle innings Wednesday at North Adams High School, scoring three runs in the third and five in the fourth, along with one final run in the sixth, for a 9-5 win over the Green Devils.
    The win puts FHS at 10-11 overall.
    The Green Devils led early with a run in the second but didn't hold onto the lead long as the Lions answered with three runs in the top of the third.
    Kyle Carson singled to start the inning and proceeded to steal second base. After two outs, with Carson standing at third base, Michael Carson cracked an RBI hit to bring home Kyle Carson. Michael Carson then stole second base and scored the Lions' second run off a two-base hit by Ian Adams.
    Nathaniel Miller went to the plate and batted in the third FHS run with a double to plate Adams.
    The Lions added five runs in the fourth for a 8-3 lead.
    Cody Tolle hit a lead-off single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dakota Hargrave. Kyle Carson's single moved Tolle to third and a two-out double by Bobby Wilson scored Tolle.
    Michael Carson then doubled to score Kyle Carson and Wilson, putting the Lions up 6-3. A single by Adams and a base knock by Miller scored both Michael Carson and Adams.
    The final FHS run came in the sixth with Adams taking second base on a two-out double. Miller was called safe at first on an error, scoring Adams.
    Miller also gained the win on the mound for the Lions. He went 6 1-3 innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits and four walks. Miller collected five strikeouts.
    Tyler Campbell pitched 2-3 of an inning. He allowed no hits, runs or walks. He finished with one strikeout.
    The Lions were led at the plate by Adams, who went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs. Michael Carson, Miller and Kyle Carson each had two hits.
    The win lifts FHS to 10-11 overall, with an SHL mark of 7-6.
