Lady Lions run past Lady Greyhounds

MANCHESTER - The Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the Manchester Lady Greyhounds Friday 13-1 in a Southern Hills League game.
The Fairfield Lady Lions continued their domination of SHL opponents with their third victory of the week.
The Lady Lions offense had 11 hits in the game and received strong pitching from starting pitcher Lauren Larrick, and relief pitcher Tiffany Woods. Woods' biggest challenge in the circle came from the weather, as she finished out the game in a driving rain storm.
FHS scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning.
Heather Huff tripled past the left fielder to lead off the game and scored on a base hit by Danielle Butler. Whitney Hanenkrat singled and advanced Butler to third base. Larrick hit a sacrifice fly to left field to knock in Butler.
Woods was called safe on an error, followed with Gabby Boone with a base hit up the middle. Sirenity Smith followed with a base on balls. Jade Shelton singled to left field to drive in Woods and Boone. Kylie Bates followed with a ground out to score Smith. Huff doubled to left field to knock in Jade Shelton.
The inning continued with Butler gaining a single to right field. Hanenkrat walked and Larrick completed the 10-run first inning with an RBI single to centerfield.
Manchester put all three of their hits together in the bottom of the first inning to score their only run.
The Lady Lions added two unearned runs in the top of the second inning, then added a single run in the top of the fourth inning on a triple by Huff. Huff scored on an RBI ground out off the bat of Hanenkrat.
After the first inning, Larrick dominated in the circle, striking out the Lady Greyhounds in order in the second and third innings. Larrick gave way to Woods in the circle in the final inning.
Leading hitters for the Lady Lions: Huff (3-for-4, double, two triples, three runs, one RBI), Butler (2-for-2, three runs, one RBI), Boone (2-for-3, one run), Larrick (1-for-3, two RBI), Hanenkrat (1-for-3, two runs, one RBI), Shelton (1-for-2, two runs, two RBIs) and Taylor Butler (1- for-1).
Larrick (7-3) picked up the win for the Lady Lions. Larrick pitched four innings, allowing three hits, one run, (one earned) and no walks. Larrick struck out seven strikeouts.
