Lady Lion volleyball tops Eastern Brown in 5

LEESBURG — It came down to the wire, but that didn't matter for the Fairfield Lady Lions as they won a five-game match Tuesday night against Southern Hills League rival Eastern Brown, defending their home court at Grandle Gymnasium inside of Fairfield High School.
Fairfield won the first game by a score of 25-21, and the Lady Warriors won the second game at 25-17. In game three, FHS won 25-11, and Eastern answered with a game-four win of 25-23. The fifth and final game was won by the Lady Lions at 15-13.
FHS now stands at 3-2 overall as they have wins against West Union and Ripley earlier this season.
Brenna Simmons was the top scorer with 24 points, followed by Sarah Putnam and Kaley Davis at 22 points each.
"Everyone played well for being off a week for the fair," Fairfield coach Mary Beth Hodson said. "Sarah (Putnam), Brenna (Simmons( and Kaley (Davis) kept us alive with great serves.
"Whitney Hanenkrat, Makenna Corzatt and Raeann Hurst protected the front line with the aid of our setters Sydney Corzatt and Kaley Davis."
In the five-game win, Hodson continued to talk about players who led on the court.
"Our back row was quick to defend with the aid of Sirenity Smith and Lauren Larrick," Hodson said. "Overall, the girls played very well."
The Lady Lions will host another home match this Thursday, as they welcome SHL and Highland County foe Whiteoak.[[In-content Ad]]
