Fairfield splits DH with Panthers

LEESBURG - The Fairfield Lions split a twin bill with the Southeastern Panthers Saturday, winning game one 8-2 but falling in the second game 13-2 in five innings.
The Lions scored runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
In the bottom of the first, Ian Admas hit a lead-off double with two strikes and reached third on a base hit by Bobby Wilson. Nathaniel Miller took first on a dropped third strike, allowing Adams to score. Wilson made the score 2-0 as he rounded the base to home plate on a RBI ground out by Tyler Campbell.
FHS took a six-run lead after the third inning was completed as they scored five runs in the inning, offsetting the one run scored by the Panthers.
Jordan Boles started by taking first on a dropped third strike. He was followed with a fielders choice by Adams and a single by Wilson. Miller singled in both Boles and Adams for two RBIs. Campbell hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Wilson to take home plate for a run.
Dakota Hargrave singled and Cody Tolle reached the bases on an infield errors, keeping the inning alive for the Lions. Kyle Carson hit into a fielders choice, giving the Panthers a force out at home. Michael Carson, with the bases loaded, was hit by a pitch to score Hargrave and Sammy Williams followed with a RBI base hit to score Tolle to complete the five-run inning.
SE added their last run of the game in the top of the fourth, but FHS equaled the run in the fifth for its last run of the first game.
Tolle was safe on an error, and he was replaced on the bases with pinch runner Nathan Hawkins. Hawkins scored on a wild pitch with two outs.
Campbell gained the win for FHS. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks. Campbell struck out five batters.
Miller led FHS with three RBIs.
In game two, the Lions allowed the Panthers to score 10 runs in the first inning, falling by a final score of 13-2.
FHS scored both of its runs in the bottom of the first. Adams began with a walk and stole second base. Campbell then drew a base on balls. Adams scored on a wild pitch as home plate was left uncovered and Hargrave knocked in Campbell with a base hit.
The Lions had five hits in the game with Adams, Wilson, Hargrave, Boles and Michael Carson all hitting singles.
The loss was charged to Kyle Carson. Of the 10 runs scored in the first inning, five were earned as FHS committed a total of five errors in the second game. Wilson pitched in relief and struck out three batters.
