Fairfield drops non-league contest
LEESBURG – The Washington Lady Blue Lions kept the undefeated streak against teams from Highland County in tact Saturday, as they defeated the Fairfield Lady Lions 58-28 at Grandle Gymnasium.
Fairfield honored former coach Kevin Fouch at the event. Fouch was the coach of the FHS Lady Lions for 16 years (1991-2006).
In the game against the Lady Blue Lions, Fairfield junior Chelsey Riddle led the FHS Lady Lions with 14 points, making three shots from the field and was 8 of 18 from the free-throw line. Riddle had 10 rebounds (three offensive), three steals, three blocks and one assist.
Fairfield senior Gabby Boone earned eight points, shooting 50 percent from the field at 3 of 6. Boone made 2 of 4 free throws and gained four rebounds.
Lauren Bowman, a senior, finished with one made 3-pointer, four defensive rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
Junior Megan Sword had four rebounds and one blocked shot. Sadie Jones, a senior, finished with three steals and two rebounds.
Fairfield committed 29 turnovers and was 7 of 33 shooting from the field overall. From the free-throw line FHS was 10 of 22. FHS had 24 rebounds.
