11 Highland County players honored by SHL

The Southern Hills League announced its 2010 All-SHL baseball and softball teams on Monday. Highland County had 11 players, seven in baseball, four in softball, being recognized with the all-league honor.
In baseball, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were undefeated champions at 13-0 in the league, with the Eastern Brown Warriors following in second at 9-4. The Whiteoak Wildcats, champions of Division II of the SHL, were 8-5 in SHL games.
Baseball players honored with All-SHL status from Highland County were: Ian Adams (FHS), Ben Barnett (WHS), Gage Carraher (WHS), Dalton Cox (LCHS), Austin Fawley (LCHS), Nathaniel Miller (FHS) and Cody Roush (LCHS).
Lynchburg-Clay head coach Aric Fiscus was named SHL Coach of the Year.
Other area players named to the SHL team included: Ryan Beasley (NAHS), Brett Carrington (EBHS), Tyler Gambrel (FAHS), Blake Justice (PHS), Bradley Kirschner (RHS), Brandon Koewler (EBHS), Dawson Little (MHS), Sam Louden (NAHS), Pete Rigdon (MHS), Andrew Seaman (PHS) and Derek Souder (EBHS).
In softball, Highland County players named to the All-SHL team were Whitney Hanenkrat (FHS), Heather Huff (FHS), Lauren Larrick (FHS) and Juanita Nichols (WHS).
Other area players named to the team included: Celeste Barker (RHS), Alexandra Bowles (WUHS), Callista Burkhardt (MHS), Emily Fite (NAHS), Amber Grooms (WUHS), Maria Johnson (EBHS), Shaylin McDaniels (PHS), Kaylee Purdy (EBHS), Taylor Reynolds (EBHS), Ciera Seaman (PHS), Kirsten Sowards (PHS), Hayleigh Swayne (PHS), Ashley Taylor (NAHS) and Courtney Wiford (EBHS).
The softball Coach of the Year was Eric Purdy (EBHS).
