Hillsboro FFA members compete in Ohio Preview Show

On April 15-16, a few of the Hillsboro FFA members traveled to Washington Court House to show cattle for the weekend in the Ohio Preview Show at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.

At the show, exhibitors had the opportunity to participate in a fitting contest, showmanship and their cattle classes.

Members Cameron Burkard, Carter Boyd, Emma Yochum, Blake Herdman and Logan Hetzel all participated in the fitting contest. Burkard’s team was reserve in the intermediate contest. Yochum, Herdman and Hetzel’s team was first in the senior division, and Boyd’s team was reserve in the senior division.

Members also competed in showmanship. Yochum was third overall intermediate showman, Herdman was fourth overall intermediate showman and Boyd was fifth overall intermediate showman. Burkard also participated in the intermediate showmanship division.

Burkard placed third in class with his Shorthorn Heifer. Herdman had Champion Maine-Angus female and Champion High Maine Anjou female. Boyd had Grand Champion Maine female and Reserve Champion Maine-Angus female. Yochum placed second in class with her Chianina heifer.
