Chapter President

On Tuesday, March 8, and Wednesday March 9, four members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter attended the Ohio Youth Capital Challenge.

Bryanna Buerkle, Brittany Rhodes, and Whitney Seitz attended a two-day conference where they had the opportunity to learn about public policy, develop a policy of their own, and meet new people to form a team.

They learned about the importance of communication and the key to constructing an effective presentation. Meredith Oglesby also attended the conference and served as a mentor to the participants. Oglesby was a participant in 2015.

The team of four consists of Buerkle, Rhodes, Seitz, and Sarah Hoog of Clermont County. The participants had time to develop an outline for the program or project that they would be implementing in their communities in the coming months. These members had the chance to meet with legislators and discuss the proposals they found a passion for. They also toured the state capital.

The participants will continue working to develop the plan and will compete on May 14 against the other teams to see whose policy was most effective. After May 14th, the top teams will be chosen to move on to compete in August at the Ohio State Fair.
