Fairfield 4th graders earn national writing contest honors

Fourth grade students from Fairfield Elementary recently participated in a national writing contest.
Mrs. Hooper’s reading students submitted their entries for a chance to be recognized by Scholastic Storyworks magazine.
One contest was titled, “Create a Character,” where students had to use their imagination to write about a new character for a book. Laila Harris was selected as one of the 75 runners-up and was handpicked from nearly 5,000 entries that were received.

The “Nonfiction Contest” challenged students to come up with a topic in history, research it and submit it as an article for Storyworks. There were nearly 1,000 entries received, and Campbell Anne Friend was chosen as one of the top ten finalists.
Fairfield Elementary would like to congratulate these students as this is quite an accomplishment.
