Bright Elementary wins math contest

The fifth and sixth grade Bright Elementary students participated in the Southern Ohio SumDog Math Contest.

The schools that participated were Hillsboro Elementary, Clinton Massie Elementary, Denver Place Elementary (Wilmington City Schools), Hillsboro Middle School, Miami Trace Middle School, and Bright Elementary. Out of the six schools, 356 students participated, 109,481 questions were answered and 94,554 of the answers were correct.

The SumDog Math Contest was from Dec. 7-13.

Out of the six schools, Bright Elementary won first place.

The overall school scores are the average number of correct answers out of the students in the school. Bright Elementary also had three students finish in the Top 10 out of all students in the competition.

Pictured are: Evan Knox, a 6th-grader who placed sixth; Brayden Yeager, a 5th-grader who received seventh place; and Darien Eakins, a 6th-grader who received eighth place.

Bright Elementary had 25 students in the top 50.
