The light and dark of the season

My lack of interest in soccer has been eclipsed by the “shorts” I have seen on YouTube of Europeans, Japanese and Australians who have come here for FIFA.
They have been pleasantly surprised by the abundance, friendliness and beauty of the United States.
Our restaurants have been a complete delight to them. Free refills on soft drinks have just blown them away. A Brit eating biscuits and gravy for the first time brought a smile to my face.
An Aussie who said “Waffle House” could easily open 10,000 restaurants in their country was another smile. And those who discovered Buc-ee’s were just over the moon.
I think these folks came along just in time.
I get tired of hearing from the socialist Democrats about how terrible America is. Here at the time of our 250th Birthday, it is uplifting to hear from these visitors about how dynamic our country really is.
Darker is the WNBA. How long are they going to let players beat up Caitlin Clark? If they attacked her on the street instead of on the basketball court, they would be locked up for assault and battery.
LeBron James has “blasted critics of her game calling them ‘flat-out haters” and urging them to let her enjoy playing.
Others: “NBA Hall of Famers Rick Barry and George ‘Iceman’ Gervin teamed up on a podcast to strongly object to how physically veterans were treating the young guard early on. Barry labeled some of the flagrant, physical fouls targeted at Clark as ‘reprehensible,’ demanding heavy fines and suspensions for players risking her health.
Gervin added that players didn't seem to recognize the business value Clark brought, emphasizing that even the most dominant championship teams couldn't draw the crowd and financial power that she immediately generated.”
Darkest is this. Then there is Asbury Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky. The United Methodist Church has decided to no longer accept graduates from Asbury, now formerly the largest seminary from its list of approved seminaries, because Asbury states that, “We affirm marriage as sanctioned by God, which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union for life, as delineated in Scripture, and provides the sole context for sexual intimacy, helping to ensure the blessings of that relationship as God intended."
UMC, we hardly knew ye. Long live the Global Methodist Church.

WNBA players
All things being equal, I'd rather have Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham over for lunch and a get-together, than those that disrespect them or assault them, simply because they are jealous or envious. There's WWJD. Then there's WWBLD... What would Bill Lambier do...
Followers of Jesus
The building on S.R. 41 in Sinking Spring (even though it has a plaque from 1800-whatever from some Methodist sect) has been catching fire. And the Congregants and other attendees have been warm, accepting, remorseful in their own daily lives, and they Praise Jesus. What more could a luke-warm believer or a lost soul at their wit's-end cling to? Other than to the Word and to the belief of the complete forgiveness from GOD, simply because they have True Faith.
