A Chillicothe woman was recently sentenced to community control after pleading guilty to conveying drugs onto the grounds of the Greenfield Jail.

As previously reported, in a joint indictment, Danielle Kay Dennewitz, 34, and Jeremiah J. Johnson, 34, both of Chillicothe, were indicted in January on charges of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, a third-degree felony; and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

The indictment alleged that in September, the defendants “did knowingly convey, or attempt to convey,” methamphetamine onto the grounds of the Greenfield Jail.

Dennewitz pleaded guilty to the conveyance charge April 21, according to court records. The possession charge was dismissed.

During a sentencing hearing May 18, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Dennewitz to three years of community control. She was also ordered to pay court costs and to complete a recommended treatment program, according to court records.

As previously reported, Johnson also pleaded guilty to the conveyance charge in April and was sentenced to three years of community control in May.
