Ohio State men’s basketball has unveiled its 2023-24 home non-conference schedule. The Buckeyes are set to open the season on Monday, Nov. 6 vs. Oakland.

Ohio State will then host preseason Top 15 Texas A&M in the first week of the season on Friday, Nov. 10. The Aggies, who were picked 12th in the consensus preseason polls, were 25-10 last season, reached the finals of the SEC Tournament and made an NCAA Tournament appearance.

“This is the best and most challenging overall schedule we have put together in a few years,” said Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann. “We have a preseason Top 15 opponent coming to the Schottenstein Center in the early part of the year, a couple of preseason Top 25 teams away from home and several good regional mid-major programs in the nonconference. This is all in addition to our tremendous home slate of Big Ten opponents.”

The game against Texas A&M will be followed by a game against Merrimack on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Prior to the previously announced Emerald Coast Classic games against Alabama and either Oregon or Santa Clara on Nov. 24 and 25, Ohio State will host Western Michigan on Sunday, Nov. 19. That game, which will be played at the Schottenstein Center, is also part of the Emerald Coast Classic.

Ohio State will close the month of November against Central Michigan at home Wednesday, Nov. 30. Big Ten play will then open during the first weekend of December, and Ohio State will follow that game with a contest against Miami (Ohio). The game with the RedHawks will either be on Dec. 5 or 6, depending on when Ohio State plays its first Big Ten game.

The final two non-conference games will be around Christmas. The Buckeyes will host New Orleans on Thursday, Dec. 21 and will then play West Virginia in the previously announced neutral site game in Cleveland.

Ohio State will again take part in the CBS Sports Classic, which is an annual event featuring Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA. Details of that event will be announced later this summer.

Tip-times and TV assignments for all non-conference home games as well as the entire Big Ten schedule will also be released at the end of the summer.
