Wildcats top Greyhounds 54-52

MOWRYSTOWN - The Whiteoak Wildcats gained their third win of the season Tuesday evening with a 54-52 victory over Southern Hills League counterpart Manchester at Whiteoak High School.
The SHL game was deadlocked at 10 points each after the first quarter, but it was the Wildcats (2-1, 3-2) who led at the half by a score of 27-23, outscoring the Greyhounds 17-13 in the second eight minute period.
Whiteoak continued to lead the game in the third quarter by scoring 21 points, and only allowing 11 for a 48-34 advantage after three quarters.
The Greyhounds picked things up in the final quarter as they netted 18 points. In the fourth the Wildcats gained six points to hold off Manchester for the two-point win.
WHS junior led the Wildcats with 12 points. He sank two free throws and five two-point baskets.
Ethan Eyre also gained 12 points for the Wildcats. Eyre also sank five baskets and two free throws.
Ben Barnett and Ethan Hawkins each gained nine points in the win over Manchester. Barnett made one 3-pointer.
Mike Carraher had seven points with one 3-point basket.
Kyle Cope scored three points for WHS and Jerry Stuckey made two points.
WHS was 10 of 19 from the free-throw line. Manchester finished 5 of 10.
For Manchester Blevins led with a game-high 13 points. He was 3 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Hanson gained 12 points for the Greyhounds, making two 3-pointers. He was 2 of 2 from the foul line.
Combs finished with two trifectas for Manchester, earning a total of 10 points in the loss to league foe Whiteoak.
The Greyhounds made a total of five 3-point baskets. Little also made a 3-pointer for MHS, as he finished with seven points.
Mckenzie earned six points and Ricketts finished the game with four points for the Greyhounds.
