Wildcats dismantle Blue Jays

RIPLEY - Outscoring the Ripley Blue Jays 12-4 in the first three innings, it was the Whiteoak Wildcats who gained the Southern Hills League win Tuesday evening by a score of 19-4 at RHS.
After scoring seven runs in the first, two in the second and three in the third, the Wildcats added seven more runs in the fourth to complete their rout of the Blue Jays.
Ripley scored one run in the first and three in the third.
Ben Barnett pitched five innings in the SHL win. Barnett (3-0) allowed four runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks; while adding six strikeouts.
At the plate Barnett was 2-for-2, including a double, with three runs and one RBI.
Gage Carraher was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs. Carraher had a double. Zach Docter finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Ethan Eyre and Luke Taggert also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Eyre plated one run and Taggert gained four RBIs, and hit two doubles.
Jesse Bradds was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Mike Carraher was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Corey Hughes and Wes Stratton each had one hit. Hughes had two RBIs, and one run. Stratton had three runs and one RBI.
"We were driving the ball through the middle of the field consistently. Gage, Luke and Zach were very impressive at the plate," WHS head coach Chris Veidt said. "Ben Barnett had a solid overall game both on the mound and at the plate. Jesse Bradds in his final two plate appearances made some impressive adjustments for a young varsity player.
"Corey Hughes had a big two-out, two-strike RBI hit in the first inning. We hit well with two strikes and two outs."
WHS stands at 4-6 overall. On Wednesday, WHS will travel to take on North Adams at 5 p.m.
