Whiteoak junior high girls cross country take 1st; WHS girls finish 2nd at respective meets

MOWRYSTOWN — The junior high Whiteoak girls cross-country team won their first meet in over four years this past Wednesday at Eastern Pike.
In extremely hot running conditions, the Lady 'Cats came out on top in the seven-school race.
Participating schools included Eastern Pike, Clay, South Webster, Waverly, Jackson, Western and Whiteoak.
Leading the way for the winning team was seventh grader Lauren Greene, who finished in 8th place (17:06), followed by Maggie Carr in 11th at 18:29.
Kattie Taylor finished 12th, 18:42; Regan Bohrer, 13th, 19:42; and Emily Edingfield, 15th, 21:46.
The Whiteoak girls varsity team finished in third place and boys junior high team finished in fifth place.
Girls varsity times and places included: LeAnna Lomske, 7th, 24:52; Clarissa Johnson, 9th, 25:18; Jennah Lomske, 10th, 25:42; Morgan Lehr, 21st, 34:25 and Olivia Lomske, 25, 36:06.
Boys varsity times included: Tyler Roberts, 28th, 23:25; Cody Feck, 31st, 25:01; and Corey Adams, 37th, 26:43.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Whiteoak competed at the Lynchburg-Clay Invitational. The girls varsity team finished only one point away from winning the seven-school meet, as they were defeated 27-28 by Ripley.
Leading the second-place Lady 'Cats were LeAnna Lomske, 8th, 26:24; Jennah Lomske, 9th, 27:03; Clarissa Johnson, 10th, 27:28; Courtney Cummings, 16th, 31:01; Kiley Sosby, 16, 33:14 and Olivia Lomske, 23rd, 34:17.
