Tribe defeats Wildcats in six innings

MOWRYSTOWN - Jumping out to a four-run lead against Highland County counterpart Whiteoak, it took just six innings for the Tribe to gain the non-league win Saturday afternoon. Along with the four-run first, HHS added eight more runs to defeat WHS 12-1 in non-league action.
HHS followed their four runs in the first with one in the third, two in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the six for the victory.
WHS scored their lone run in the third inning when Ben Barnett doubled in Luke Taggert.
For the Indians, Airic Steagall, Paul Snyder and Dow Kiefer each went 2-for-3. Steagall had three runs and two RBIs. One of the hits by the senior was a double. Snyder had a triple and one run. Kiefer batted in three runners and scored three times for the Tribe.
Patrick Garman was 1-for-2 with four RBIs, followed with Corey Walker gaining one hit and two runs. Aric Carroll had one RBI and one run, followed with Logan Watson and Brandon Wilson doing the same with one RBI and one run scored.
The Wildcats were led by three players going 1-for-2 in Barnett, Jesse Bradds and Luke Taggert. Zach Docter was 1-for-3 at the plate.
A.J. Helterbrand earned the win for HHS. Helterbrand pitched five innings, striking out 13 batters. He allowed one run (unearned) on two hits and one walk.
Docter was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 2-3 innings, allowing 12 runs (four earned) on seven hits and seven walks.
Wes Stratton pitched 1-3 of an inning, allowing one hit.
