Lions cross country advances to Division III Regionals

RIO GRANDE — The Fairfield boys cross country team finished as the SE District runner-up to Ironton on Saturday afternoon at the University of Rio Grande.  

The other two schools finishing behind Fairfield (2nd place) earning a spot the Division III Regional meet on Oct. 30 at Pickerington North HS were Wheelersburg and Stewart Federal Hocking.
 
Leading Fairfield and being named to the All-SE District team were: freshman Michael Mangus, gaining a third-place finish with a time of 17:38. Freshman Blake Hildebrant was ninth with a time of 18:27. Sophomore John Cain finished 15th with a time of 18:48.
 
Also running for Fairfield were freshman Wyatt Crothers, 22nd with a time of 19:48; sophomore Elijah Carmean, 46th with a time of 21:47; sophomore Tyler Sims, 57th with a time of 23:13; and freshman Tanner Ayres, 63rd with a time of 24:00.

Also running in the meet (District I) were the Whiteoak Wildcats. WHS finished in 11th with a total team time of 1:58:42.30.

Running for WHS were: 48, Anthony Lomske, 21:51:07; 62, Steven Oney, 23:55.15; 64, Tyler Roberts, 24:10.19; 65, Nick Eldridge, 24:22.61; 66, Kal Meade, 24:23.28; 67, Mark Crowe, 24:24.00 and 75, Matt Forsythe, 25:43.04.

In the Division III, District II run, Lynchburg-Clay had five runners in the boys meet.

Running for LC were: 19, Quinn Stoltz, 19:28.09; 36, Noah Stoltz, 20:31.09; 51, Dallas Puckett, 22:16.20; 52, Ryan Chipperfield, 22:21.49 and 54, Colton Dunseith, 22:26.77.

In the girls Division III meet, Lynchburg-Clay's Laney Lewis was 18th with a time of 22:31.00.

Whiteoak had five runners in the meet. They included: 22, LeAnna Lomske, 23:06.56; 47, Jennah Lomske, 24:56.65; 92, Clarissa Johnson, 27:41.38; 100, Lizz Carson, 28:17.03; 116, Morgan Lehr, 31:03.19.

The WHS girls had a 13th place finish with a team time of 2:15:04.81.[[In-content Ad]]
