MCDERMITT— The 2011-12 girls high school basketball season for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats came to an end on Monday night at Northwest High School.

Being unable to convert free throws ended up hurting the Lady 'Cats in the end, falling in their Division IV SE District Sectional opener to Western Latham, 44-41.

The Lady 'Cats (2-19) shot 8-of-21 from the free-throw line (29 percent) and 16-of-68 (24 percent) from the field, as they had quarter scoring of 3, 12, 15 and 11 for each of the respective eight-minute quarters.

Leading WHS in scoring was senior Jessie Gilliland with 16 points on the night. Gilliland made the lone WHS 3-pointer, along with six two-point baskets and one free throw. Gilliland added eight rebounds and two steals.

Fellow senior Marissa Bohl finished with four points, but added 14 rebounds, three steals, one blocked shot and one assist.

Emily Stratton added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Clarissa Johnson followed with four points, five rebounds and one steal.

Morgan Campbell, Amber Gorman and Brittany Luman each added two points. Campbell added one rebound, while Gorman tallied 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. Luman totaled one rebound, one steal and one blocked shot. Jayde Parr had one rebound.

Whiteoak's two wins this season came against West Union and Felicity.

In their final home game this season, Cooper said this about the two Lady 'Cat seniors (Gilliland and Bohl).

"They have been outstanding all year," Cooper said. "They play as hard as any two players I've coached in 12 years. My only regret is I wish I could have coached them for four years."
